So on Saturdays I teach an enrichment program for 7th graders from NYC public school kids. We're covering Romeo and Juliet, the original and in full, right now. The kids can't wait for speaking parts. During one read-aloud session the kid stumbled across the words "untimely death." So I thought I'd offer some examples. Before I could finish rattling off some names, discuss foreshadowing, etc, a kid shouts out, to show he's getting the gist, "oh wait--TUPAC!" Soon after, another similarly inspired student, "Don't foget BIGGIE!" Got to love these kids.
